Swiss tenor Mauro Peter opens the 2021/22 season with a new production of Strauss Salome (Naraboth), followed by Mozart's Così fan tutte (Ferrando) at the Zurich Opera House, where he has been a permanent member of the ensemble since 2013 and most recently enjoyed great success with Zender's Winterreise and as Nemorino in Donizetti's Elisir d'amore celebrated. Concert performances of Mozart's Così fan tutte Salzburg Mozart Week, and he has also performed with Strauss Field mouse (Alfred) in Lyon and with Berg's Wozzeck (Andres) under the direction of Andris Nelsons in Boston. In addition to recitals at the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Stephaniensaal in Graz, the Taggenbrunn Festival and the Schubertiade Schwarzenberg, he will be performing Haydn's Seasons under Andrés Orozco-Estrada at the Vienna Musikverein, with Bach's Christmas Oratorio under David Afkham in Madrid, with Mozart's Requiem under Philippe Herreweghe in Munich, in Bach's St. John Passion under Trevor Pinnock at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw.

Mauro Peter has celebrated international operatic success with his interpretation of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's works. Roles such as Belmonte, Ferrando, Don Ottavio and Tamino have taken him to the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto, the Bavarian State Opera, the Opéra de Lyon, the Opéra national de Paris, the Royal Opera House in London, the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Theater an der Wien, the Zurich Opera House and the Salzburg Festival.

Mauro Peter has a long-standing collaboration with the Salzburg Festival.
While still studying at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich and the August Everding Theater Academy, he was a member of the 2012 Festival's Young Singers Project. In the following years, in addition to numerous concerts and recitals, he sang Ferrando in Così fan tutte in 2016, Andres in Berg's Wozzeck in 2017 and Tamino in The Magic Flute in 2018.

The collaboration with Nikolaus Harnoncourt was of exceptional importance. His interpretation and rehearsals of Mozart's Da Ponte cycle at the Theater an der Wien in 2014 left a lasting impression on the audience and all those involved.

Through his versatile concert activities, Mauro Peter has worked with conductors such as Ivor Bolton, Constantinos Carydis, Teodor Currentzis, Gustavo Dudamel, Ádám Fischer, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Philippe Herreweghe, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Daniel Hope, Vladimir Jurowski, Ton Koopman, Fabio Luisi, Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Minasi, Jonathan Nott, Trevor Pinnock and Andrés Orozco-Estrada.

Mauro Peter devotes himself intensively to Lied and has performed at the Musikverein Vienna, the Pierre Boulez Saal in Berlin, the Cologne Philharmonie, the Prinzregententheater in Munich, the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Verbier Festival, the Lucerne Festival, the Wigmore Hall in London and the Salzburg Festival.

In the course of his career as a pianist, Joseph Middleton has specialized in song accompaniment and chamber music and is highly regarded in this field. He has been described as "one of the brightest stars in the world of song" by BBC Music Magazine, "the cream of the new generation" by The Times and "the perfect accompanist" by Opera Now.

Joseph Middelton enjoys a very fruitful collaboration with internationally established singers such as Sir Thomas Allen, Louise Alder, Ian Bostridge, Dame Sarah Connolly, Lucy Crowe, Iestyn Davies, Fatma Said, Samuel Hasselhorn, Wolfgang Holzmair, Christiane Karg, Katarina Karnéus, Angelika Kirchschlager, Dame Felicity Lott, Christopher Maltman, John Mark Ainsley, Ann Murray, James Newby, Mark Padmore, Miah Persson, Ashley Riches, Amanda Roocroft, Kate Royal, Matthew Rose, Carolyn Sampson, Nicky Spence and Roderick Williams. He regularly collaborates with rising stars of the younger generation and founded the Myrthen Ensemble in 2012 to explore lesser known song repertoire with his regular duo partners Mary Bevan, Clara Mouriz, Allan Clayton and Marcus Farnsworth. Signum Records released their debut CD "Songs to the Moon".

Recent seasons have taken him to London's Wigmore Hall, the Royal Opera House and the Royal Festival Hall, the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Amsterdam Concertgebouw and Muziekgebouw, the Cologne Philharmonie, the opera houses in Strasbourg, Frankfurt, Lille and Gothenburg, the Musée d'Orsay in Paris, the Tonhalle Zurich, the deSingel Antwerp, the Philharmonie Luxembourg, the Bozar Brussels, the Oji Hall in Tokyo and the Alice Tully Hall. He performs regularly at festivals in Aix-en-Provence, Aldeburgh, Edinburgh, Munich, Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Ravinia, Japan, San Francisco, Toronto and Vancouver as well as at the BBC Proms and can often be heard in his own series on BBC Radio 3.

Joseph Middleton is Director of Leeds Lieder, musician in residence at Pembroke College Cambridge and Professor and Fellow at his alma mater, the Royal Academy of Music. He has a rapidly growing and award-winning discography and was awarded the Royal Philharmonic Society's Young Artist of the Year Award in 2017.
