Krassimira Stoyanova is one of the leading singers in her field today, celebrated by audiences and press alike. Born in Bulgaria, she studied singing and violin at the Plovdiv Conservatory. In 1995, she made her debut at the Sofia National Opera, where she developed an extensive repertoire, and finally began her international career at the Vienna State Opera. She is still a regular guest at the Haus am Ring, where she was awarded the title of "Kammersängerin" in 2009.
Krassimira Stoyanova regularly performs at leading opera houses such as the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Opéra Bastille in Paris, the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, La Scala in Milan, the Zurich Opera House and the state operas in Munich, Hamburg, Dresden and Berlin. She has worked with the most renowned conductors, including Daniel Barenboim, Riccardo Chailly, Myung-Whun Chung, Vladimir Fedoseyev, Daniele Gatti, Bernard Haitink, Manfred Honeck, Mariss Jansons, Fabio Luisi, James Levine, Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Muti, Seiji Ozawa, Georges Prêtre, Yuri Temirkanov, Christian Thielemann and Franz Welser-Möst.
The soprano's operatic repertoire ranges from bel canto roles to the great Verdi and Puccini roles to Richard Strauss and the Slavic repertoire. She also devotes herself with great passion to rarely performed works, including Donizetti's Maria di RohanVerdi's La battaglia di Legnano or Dvořák's Dimitrij.
In 2003, the artist made her highly acclaimed debut at the Salzburg Festival as Antonia (Les Contes d'Hoffmann). As a marshal (The Rosenkavalier) and Danae (The love of Danae) she was also able to celebrate great success in Salzburg.
Krassimira Stoyanova is also one of the most sought-after singers on the concert stage. She has sung in Beethoven's 9th Symphony with Riccardo Muti at the Ravenna Festival, with Colin Davis at St. Paul's Cathedral in London, with Mariss Jansons at the Vatican and with Christian Thielemann and the Munich Philharmonic, to name but a few. Her concert repertoire includes Verdi's Requiem, Beethoven's Missa solemnisStrauss' Four last songsDvořák's Requiem and Stabat mater.
Highlights of the recent past include recitals at the Bavarian and Vienna State Operas, La Scala in Milan and the Vienna Musikverein, concerts with Rossini's Stabat mater with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra under Riccardo Muti as well as her performances as Aida and Amelia (Simon Boccanegra) at La Scala in Milan, a new production of Ariadne on Naxos at the Semperoper Dresden under Christian Thielemann, concerts with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, concertante Aida-performances with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Verdi Requiem at the Salzburg Festival under Riccardo Muti and performances as Leonora (Il trovatore) at the Bavarian State Opera.
The majority of the projects planned for the 2019/20 season fell victim to the measures taken worldwide to combat the coronavirus pandemic. Nevertheless, Krassimira Stoyanova was in a new production Luisa Miller (title role) at the Lyric Opera Chicago, in recitals at the Grazer Musikverein and the Zurich Opera House as well as with the Verdi Requiem at the Vienna Musikverein under the direction of Riccardo Muti. In addition to Desdemona (Otello) at the Vienna State Opera, Amelia (Un ballo in maschera) at the Maggio Musicale in Florence and an opera gala in Athens are on the program. 2020/21 began for the artist with Verdi's Requiem and Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 with La Scala Milan under Riccardo Chailly. She also performs various concerts as "Artist in Residence" with the Munich Radio Orchestra. In addition to numerous other concerts and recitals, the Marschallin has appeared in the Rose Cavalier at the Vienna State Opera, Leonora (Il trovatore) at the Opéra national de Paris and the Countess in a new production of Capriccio under Christian Thielemann at the Semperoper Dresden.
Krassimira Stoyanova's four solo CDs I palpiti d'amor, Slavic Opera Arias, Verdi and Verismo for the Orfeo label have been awarded important prizes. Her new CD with all of Puccini's songs for soprano and piano has been released on the Naxos label.
